Who We AreThis database is established with the pioneering initiative of the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). It initially covers all the DOST technologies, particularly those generated and or/funded by the DOST attached agencies such as the sectoral planning councils and service institutes. In partnership with other implementing agencies such as Department of Natural Resources (DENR); Department of Agriculture (DA) and its agencies such as Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) and Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI); Philippine Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD); National Commission of Indigenous Peoples (NCIP); National Plant Genetics Resources Laboratory (NPGRL); Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA); National Seed Industry Council; State universities and colleges (SUCs) etc., this database will serve as a platform for a comprehensive network of databases on genetic resources and traditional knowledge by providing linkages to the agencies with existing database on genetic resources and traditional knowledge .
This initiative will be instrumental in avoiding bio-piracy and put proper protection of genetic resources and traditional knowledge in the Philippines as mandated by the law.
